Veterans Memorial Park

Veterans Memorial Park

Veterans Memorial Park is a big park. It has a lot of open space, two pavilions, playgrounds, and even a rodeo arena. It is also the crown jewel, or at least the poster child, for West Jordan parks.

It is a great place to visit with friends and family to pay homage to veterans, walk around, and picnics. People often club it with Conservation Garden Park and Gardner Village. A great post ahead.

Park History

The park was built in honor of those who served in the military and also serves as a community center. It is available to reserve 7 days a year, and it can hold events such as reunions, wedding receptions, parties, dances, and meetings. Pioneer Hall can accommodate eight 60″ round tables, ten 8′ banquet tables, and 100 folding chairs.

The Veterans Memorial Park is a large, mixed-use park spanning over 99 acres in West Jordan, Utah. It is the crown jewel of the city’s parks department and features playgrounds, open space, two pavilions, basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields, the Gene Fullmer Rec Center, and a senior center.

Park Amenities

As one of Utah’s largest cities, West Jordan has something for everyone. Residents can find a new hobby or challenge at Mountain View Golf Course, where the pro shop has everything they need before their next tee time. Junior golf clinics are also available to help children learn the game. Alternatively, they can tackle their research projects or get lost in a gushy romance novel at the Salt Lake County Library. If you want to hit the mall, head to Jordan Landing, where 140 stores, restaurants, and a Cinemark and Rush Funplex offer a variety of entertainment options.

Homes in West Jordan range from single-family ramblers to townhomes and new construction. Most homes have three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a single-car garage. Many are located within blocks of the children’s schools, making carpools easy and stress-free. For an outdoor adventure, the Oquirrh Mountains are only a short drive away, providing outstanding hikes and views of the Salt Lake Valley. Discover more exciting places here.

Park Activities

At a whopping 99 acres, Veterans Memorial Park is perhaps the crown jewel of the WJ Parks Department. It features a large playground with replicas of Utah landmarks like Kennecott Copper Mine and Saltair at Great Salt Lake, several fenced play areas, two pavilions, the Gene Fullmer Rec Center, tennis courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, a snack bar, restroom facilities, the cemetery and plenty of open space.

The Blue Playground at Veterans Memorial Park features a large fort structure, a rocking horse, and a toddler area with small climbing structures, smaller monkey bars, and safety swings. There is a separate play area for older kids that has taller monkey bars and higher slides. The whole park is surrounded by lots of grass. During the summer, there are many activities at the park such as music and food trucks at the Ceremony and Car Show. This event is free and no registration is required. It is held on the last Saturday in May at 1985 W 7800 S.

Park Facilities

Veterans Memorial Park is a pretty massive park and it features a large fort, some historic-looking buildings as well as a couple of playgrounds. The kid’s area is divided into two different sections with one section for the tots that have smaller climbing structures and safety swings while the older kids can play on much taller structures and higher monkey bars. The park also has a lot of open space, picnic areas, 2 pavilions, 8 tennis courts, 10 baseball fields, 2 basketball courts, 4 volleyball courts, the Gene Fullmer Rec Center, and a rodeo arena.

Parking is free at the park and the closest TRAX station is at 2700 West Sugar Factory Road or Historic Gardner (both on the Red Line). The park is also located within walking distance of Midvale, South Jordan, Salt Lake City, and other locations around town.
